| REGISTER YOUR QUESTIONS FOR THE NEXT ED BOON CHAT |
|
Since everyone didn't get their questions answered,
and since Ed Boon wasn't able to fully talk about MK5, we are now
taking questions for his next chat, TO BE ANNOUNCED. You must e-mail
us with your proposed username and 2 questions for the MK ko-kreator.
Our goal is to have Ed answer as many MK5 questions as possible,
so you can include those. If he will be unable to answer them, we
will reply and ask if you would like to submit new questions (to
be certain you will have your questions answered, submit 2 non-MK5
questions as well).
The chat will again be moderated, except only the
people who register their questions will get them answered. To get
your questions answered simply show up the night of the chat and
log on with the username you indicated in your e-mail (if there
are any complications regarding usernames, we will contact you).
If you don't have the username from your e-mail, or you don't show
up, your questions will not be answered. Once we have received enough
questions, we will post the order in which we will ask Ed Boon accordingly
on this site. The order will be determined by who e-mails us first.
The end the chat will be "briefly" open for all questions.

| APRIL 25TH JOSHUA WEXLER CHAT HIGHLIGHTS |
 |
Thanks to all who attended April 25's chat
with MK Conquest developer/producer and Mortal Kombat guru Joshua
Wexler. The full chat transcript will be posted in the vault.
Here are some highlights: |
|
|
<neo2010> Welcome Mr. Wexler my first question
is, why exactly was MKC taken off the air?
<Joshua_We> It wasn't really taken off
the air - in the traditional sense of the word - the show did really
well, in fact too well. Because the show aired on two different
networks, TNT and in Syndication, there were a lot more costs associated
with it than originally anticipated - it was a network decision
- not ours.
<MKJohn> Josh, do you play any of the MK games?
If so, what is your favorite and who is your favorite character?
<Joshua_We> MK John - all the time -
we have an MK4 machine here in the office - I play two the most
though and my favorite is Sub-Zero
<MKJohn> Josh, what is it like to work at
Threshold?
<Joshua_We> MK John - Threshold's a blast
- come to work, play games, make movies, blow stuff up - what could
be better!
<NosajMKD> My question is for the 3rd film
with the movie be released with New Line or who will it be with
and this time will Threshold have control over how the movie goes
unlike the New Line MKA matter?
<Joshua_We> Nosaj - we have gotten all
the rights back from New Line - Threshold will be in control!
<Shaddow18> is it possible you all can at
least bring Quan Chi back .........lol he was like the awesome villain
other then the head of the shadow priest
<Joshua_We> Shaddow - your wish will
be granted...
<Takeda> josh, any chance of a MKC soundtrack?
<Joshua_We> Takeda - we can try - maybe
we'll put some MP3s on the site
<Orchid> is there any chance of Christopher
coming back to work as Rayden?
<Joshua_We> orchid - yes
<McDaniel> ever hear of john the mk janitor?
<Joshua_We> McD - nope |

ED BOON CHAT: Q & A'S REGARDING MORTAL KOMBAT
5
|
 |
Nearly 100 users attended April 11th's ED BOON
chat, and we would like to thank those who were there. The following
Q and A's are all pertaining to Mortal Kombat 5. They are as
follows: |
|
| <ED_BOON> MK5 the
game will not be playable at E3.
<Scott-MK5> Can we have some tentative idea
when it will be released and when teasers like you had for MK4 will
hit the internet?
<ED_BOON> Expect a teaser within the
next few months. And you can see an exclusive teaser to be premiered
on MortalKombat.com.
<The_King> When will mk5 be out?
<ED_BOON> Not in 2001...
<KungLao> Can you tell us any returning characters
for MK5?
<ED_BOON> The only certain character
is of course Scorpion. But with Scorpion, one can expect Sub-Zero.
<Raiden> Is Raiden going to be in MK5?
<ED_BOON> You can find our answers in
the vault at MortalKombat.com
<DrkBishop> Okay, there have been rumors going
around that MK5 will possibly an X-Box exclusive. Are you developing
MK5 with a particular system in mind, or are you even that far yet?
<ED_BOON> No, Mortal Kombat is just being
designed to be as cool as it could be.
<Scott-MK5> How far along in completion is
Mortal Kombat 5?
<ED_BOON> We are still in the early preliminary
stages.
<UFighterX> What "alities" will
appear in mk5 ?
<ED_BOON> the only thing for sure will
be fatalities.
<Scott-MK5> What kind of music can we expect
to see in MK5? Is Dan "Toasty" Forden
still doing the music for the game?
<ED_BOON> Yes, Dan is going to be doing
the music. You'd have to ask him.
<nth> About how long do you think it will
be before we see anything as far as screen shots etc.?
<ED_BOON> I think you'll be surprised
as to how soon you will see images for the next Mortal Kombat.
<Scott-MK5> <McDaniel> "Ed is there
any new info. you can give us at all about mk5?
<ED_BOON> Well you can throw everything
you know about MK out the window, cause we are using a completely
different fighting engine.
<KungLao> Will Kitana be back in MK5?
<ED_BOON> Most likely.
<FatSatan_> Ed, the rumor has been popping
up that MK5 will be in anime-style. Is that true?
<ED_BOON> FatSatan, that's the first
I've ever heard of it.
<Beyonder> How about "Suicides".
Commit one before your opponent finishes you?
<ED_BOON> Believe or not Beyonder, we've
had a discussion about it.
<MiKeMcD5> - <Pagliacci> - Is there
a chance that any of the characters from Mythology or Special Forces
(esp. Sareena) possibly appear in MK5?
<ED_BOON> Probably not, Pagliacci.
<McDaniel> any new info on the Test your Sight,
mind etc.?
<ED_BOON> I can tell you that Test Your
Sight will be a subset of many games of Test Your Might in MK1,
for MK5.
<STERO> Will there be pallet swapping in Mk5
<ED_BOON> No, there will not be pallet
swapping.
<blacaca> Will mk5 be more like juggle combos
like mk2?
<ED_BOON> There will certainly be more
juggle combos, but we are not going to restrict all combos to just
juggling.
<DaveB> Will all the fun finishers found in
MK2, MK3 and UMK3 - babalities, friendships, etc. - return in MK5?
<ED_BOON> We are probably going to shy
away from the funny stuff, but it wouldn't be a Mortal Kombat game
without some humor.
<Scott-MK5> Should we expect MK5 in 2002 instead
of this fall?
<ED_BOON> If we don't have it by 2002...we
are in serious trouble.
<punishaw8> Any chance of the characters showing
wear and tear as a fight progresses?
<ED_BOON> Absolutely!
<McDaniel> Will mk 5 continue with the rest
of the mk story? Or will a new story come about?
<ED_BOON> MK5 will introduce new plot
lines, as well as continuing some of the classic stories.
<neo2010> Are the Test your might and other
"Mini games" confirmed for the finished product?
<ED_BOON> If I have anything to say about
it...YES.
<dominojr> Are there gonna be midgets in MK5?
<ED_BOON> Good question. Half the characters
will be midgets.
<Kist> Will the Weapon System will be improved?
<ED_BOON> The weapon system will be much
more elaborate then in MK4...
<Dolari> Would you describe MK5 as Crunchy,
Tasty, Chewie, Sweet, Sour or Slimy? And would it comein a nice
honey dijon sauce?
<ED_BOON> Toasty...and I'm glad you asked.

DANIEL BERNHARDT TO CO-STAR IN "MATRIX"
SEQUEL
|
 |
|
Mortal Kombat Conquest star Daniel "Siro"
Bernhardt has signed on to co-star in the most anticipated sequel
of all time, "The Matrix 2." Its first movie revolutionized
the American action-martial arts genre, and playing the villainous
"Agent Johnson", the Switzerland native will showcase
his martial arts against stars Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne.
Written and directed by the Wachowski brothers,
Warner Brothers plans to shoot both "The Matrix 2 and 3"
back to back beginning in the Spring of 2001 on sets in Australia
and on location in Chicago. The science-fiction blockbuster will
also co-star Carrie-Anne Moss returning as "Trinity",
Jada Pinkett and R&B diva Aaliyah.
Daniel last co-starred in the action movie "The
Librarians" with Burt Reynolds. MK fans should show their support
for Daniel, so when the movie comes out be sure to take the red
pill.

| HAS MORTAL KOMBAT 3 STARTED
CASTING? |
 |
| Over the past few months,
several MK veteran actors and actresses have been seen coming out
of the Threshold offices in Southern California. But many questions
remain since there has been no official release date for what would
be the third in a trilogy of martial arts-science fiction blockbusters.
Chris Cassamasa, Daniel Bernhardt and Red Williams were three of the
male martial artists to pay a visit to the producers, all looking
in excellent shape. Two actresses familiar to the realm of MK included
"Playboy Playmate" Sung Hi Lee and Olympic Tae Kwon Do gold
medalist Dana Hee. But perhaps the most surprising of the movie stars
that were rumored to have spoken to the producers included the original
Rayden himself, Christopher Lambert. Are the wheels finally being
set in motion? Although there is no definite or concrete news to report
about MK3 at this time, when there is we can guarantee you'll hear
it here first. |
 |
| ACTOR UPDATES |
Christopher Lambert
|
| Rayden in the original
Mortal Kombat movie, Christopher has finished filming two movies,
"The Point Men" and the French film "Druids (Vercingetorix)".
"Druids" is an epic story of the first king of France (Lambert)
who was responsible for uniting his country in the war against Julius
Caesar more then 2 thousand years ago. No release date is set, while
in the action flick "The Point Men", he stars as an Israeli
secret agent. "The Point Men" has no official release date,
but should be out before the end of 2001. |

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa
|
| The original Shang Tsung
will co-star in 2 of the most anticipated movies of 2001: "Planet
of the Apes" and "Pearl Harbor." Cary will play "Krull"
in the Tim Burton directed movie, which stars Mark Wahlberg and is
slated for a mid-summer release. He will also play "Lieutenant
Commander Genda" in the Michael Bay directed summer blockbuster
"Pearl Harbor", featuring such stars as Ben Affleck and
Jon Voight. |

Bridgette Wilson
|
| Sonya in the first movie,
Bridgette can currently be seen in the box office success "The
Wedding Planner", a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez.
She co-stars as "Fran Donolly", the wife of the man Lopez
falls in love with. She will also be in "Just Visiting",
the remake of a successful French film. This sci-fi/fantasy flick
is slated for a late March opening. |
 |
 |
| Linden Ashby |
Musetta Vander |
|
| Linden "Johnny Cage"
Ashby is wrapping up starring in the independent film "Dead Wrong",
while Musetta "Sindel" Vander can currently be seen in the
Coen Brothers' movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" starring
George Clooney, where she plays a seductive siren. |

to be close to ten times more powerful then the Zeus 2. With this chip,
graphics will become more enhanced then any other Mortal Kombat game ever.
Although the storyline is completely subject to change, familiar characters
crashing the party include Shang Tsung, Kung Lao, Goro, and Liu Kang’s
brother Chow Kang. Some new features include a more complex weapon system,
multiple fighting styles, endurance Matches and “Test your Might.” Expect
MK5 to be the best Mortal Kombat game of all time, hitting arcades mid-2001.
